Hi Runner!
I moved to Geneva a few months ago and have really enjoyed running with and meeting you… Lazyboys is a very cool bunch of lovely people. Thanks for welcoming me to the club!
You may know that I currently split my time between the countryside near Annecy (weekends) and Geneva city (weekdays).
I’d like to invite you (and your significant others) to come hang out at my house in the hills near Annecy on Saturday 10th July 2021, for a fun trail run with my wife and me in our local forests, then beer and a barbecue. Details follow below, and RSVP by clicking this sentence.
Bring swimmers as we may go for a swim in a nearby river, or just cool off in our very small pool. We’ll also have fun slacklining, knife throwing and frisbee’ing.
The rough schedule is roll up 2-3pm, a fun run 3-4pm, then barbecue until late. Details of how to let me know you’re coming, and how to get to us, are below. We’re a 30 minute drive or 50 minute bus ride from Geneva.
What’s Next - First, please RSVP (links above and below). Then, this Sunday 4th I’ll confirm with everyone who wants to come that there are enough people coming that we’re ‘game on’. If fewer than five people want to come, we’ll try again later this year, or next summer.
Weather - This is only fun if the weather’s nice. A weather call will be made on Wednesday to everyone who’s RSVP’d that they’re coming.
Who’s welcome - you, your partner(s), kids and well behaved dogs (that’s you Macallan!). We have daughters aged 11 and 13 so if your kids wanna come and hang out, cool. Plenty of space for the dogs who we can build a run for if they want to hang out in our garden safely while we all go for a run.
RSVP here please. If more than 5 of you are keen to come, then it’s ON !
Where we are - Google Maps link here. What3Words link here. Google Earth link here showing our house in the middle of the image.
How to get to us driving - Enter “Chemin des Grands Res” from “Route de l’Eglise” at the junction here, otherwise GPS often suggests you drive across a field to get to our house. Then drive up Chemin des Grands Res (southwards) about 200m then turn up this driveway: here. Our French mobile number is +33 7 67 60 06 41. I’m also on Signal, Telegram and iMessage, but not Facebook or Whatsapp on +44 7513 057500.
How to get to us by bus - Catch the T72 bus at 1222 from Geneva to the “Filliere Croix d’Or” stop, arriving at 1314. Then it’s about a 10 minute walk to our house. If catching the bus, the last bus back is at 1931 (early!) so you’re welcome to bring a tent, or let me know and we’ll put one up for you.
What to bring - Running stuff, normal clothes, a towel, swimmers, beer and food, though we’ll have beer, wine and food at ours too and there are shops a ten minute walk from our house. Obvs if you wanna camp at our place, bring camping gear.
Where we’re running - A fun run around my local forests is optional. Every now and then you have to stop to climb over a fallen tree, so this is a fun jaunt, not a race. Distance TBC depending on what we feel like doing and how many people come; if there are lots, then we’ll explain some alternative routes, if a few of us, we’ll just head for a fun 8-10k’er mostly on singletrack forest trails.
Camping? - We have a large garden but not much of it is flat, so please only consider camping if you’ve got a two person tent. We don’t have enough flat garden for a 4 person geodisic dome, sorry!

Naomi and I (and our kids Daisy and Isla) hope to see you soon!
