Hi There Friend-Who-Is-A-Dad!
When I lived in Bristol a few years ago, a friend introduced me to a fantastic tradition he’d invented.
Many years ago he had started going car-camping with his kids, sans mom, on the first weekend of the summer holiday, with his mates who are also Dads.
Now I love women…. and normally run a mile from “ladz nights out” and all that crap, but you gotta agree, there is a different energy when mom isn’t around….. One that the kids really enjoy too. Details follow below, and RSVP by clicking this sentence.
So I’m kicking off the Swiss branch of Dad’s Camping… You’ve been chosen to join the fun!
The rough schedule is roll up on Friday evening 30th June ‘23 to a Lake Annecy campsite, then spend the 1-2 July weekend eating, drinking and mucking about with the kids, or without them if they’re hanging out together, with no firm plans.
Sunday afternoon, or maybe Monday morning, we head home.
Next - First, please RSVP (links above and below). Then, I’ll include you, or add you to, the booking I’m making at the campsite on Lake Annecy, a 45 minute drive from Geneva.
Weather - This is only fun if the weather’s nice. But unlike when I used to do this in Wales, it’s very likely to be lovely. And if it isn’t, well, we’ll just camp in the rain, stay in-tents, and hang out there.
Who - you, without your wife/ girlf (NO CHEATING AND STASHING YOUR MISTRESS IN A NEARBY HOTEL!), your kids and well behaved dogs. I have daughters aged 13 and 15.
RSVP here please and let me know how many nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday OR Friday, Saturday, OR Saturday, Sunday.
Where - I’m aiming to hold this at at Camping Lanfonnet (link here) near Tailloires.
When - The weekend of 1-2 July 2023. I’m gonna rock up on the Friday afternoon and likely take Monday 3rd off to be there both full days of 1st and 2nd July.
What to bring - Camping gear, food, booze, toys and sports gear (bikes, frisbees, SUPs, slacklines, etc). I might do a mission one day to a hidden swimming place nearby, so good walking shoes if you’re interested.
Haven’t RSVP’d yet? Click here!
Me and my kids hope to see you there!
